This is one that is sure to get RUNNERS and the Community VERY EXCITED

On Sunday, June 10th at Flushing Meadows Park: behold, the “WORLD CUP 5K”! Just in time for the 2018 FIFA World Cup!

At the unofficial soccer capital park of the Borough of Queens, this race will feature several runners in Club and Country Jerseys.

*You will be able to register under a running club and under a country! Did your country not qualify for the World Cup? Make up for them during this race!

Registration will include a giveaway and a penalty shot at a soccer field following your race!

START & FINISH: near the bathrooms where the wooden ramp ends (coming from the 7 train) That is the address for the mini golf area, which is about 300-400m to the start.

COURSE: The course features a measured USATF certified loop of a 3.1 mile perimeter of Flushing Meadows Park. The course begins near the Mets-Willets Point boardwalk, heads around the Pond of Industry, makes a turn towards the New York State Pavilion, heads over the Grand Central Parkway, around the baseball fields and back. Once you return, you’ll make a turn towards the Queens Unisphere and then make your way back towards the finish. The route is flat and features a few turns. COURSE MAP HERE!

For the 1st Time in 2018: "The Kids of Queens" is coming back to our community! The 1st 200 Kids that sign up will have the opportunity to run a 1 Mile Loop of the 5K Course. The founders of the Queens Distance Runners are natives of Queens, and strongly believe in connecting our people to the best of what our borough has to offer. Our QUEENS-based Youth Program not only encourages our local youth to run, but will provide them with the opportunity to interact with Coaches and Teammates of the Queens Distance Runners, the same people that have been behind Queens and Queens Distance since 2013. These remarkably inspiring events, “The Kids of Queens” is set up in good faith and will be free of charge! The 1st 200 Children to register will be receive a bib and a spot to run on June 10th!
