HER STORY
About 2 years ago, everyone that I came in contact with complained that I slept all of the time. My grades dropped tremendously and I went from a 90 student to a 50. Because I had no clue that I was asleep I became very aggressive when anyone woke me or made comments about my sleeping. I was socially withdrawn. I lost relationships with friends and my family. My doctors and therapist believed that I was clinically depressed.
Thankfully my mom followed her intuition and continued researching before allowing anyone to diagnose me with depression. My mom found a sleep doctor and after taking a day and night sleep study, I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy. I am now on medication and my life has changed. My grades are back up. I am on the honor roll. I was inducted into the National Art Honor Society. I will be attending Morgan State University in the fall of 2018, majoring in Architecture.
