Due to popular demand, for the 2nd consecutive year, the Queens Distance Runners will be organizing the Fall Edition of the Tune Up series at Flushing Meadows Corona Park! Our club believes that with Marathon season giving runners plenty of options, there certainly are not enough Tune-Up races to prepare for them! This time around, as we have encouraged the loved ones of our teammates and the general public to run, there will be a 5K option to accompany the Tune-Up!
This 30K event is 4 loops of Flushing Meadows Corona Park and is a perfect event to hone in your marathon pace for any 26.2 mile event for the rest of your fall long distance season. Our course will be stationed by volunteers throughout the duration of the event (more on volunteering below). The course is almost entirely flat besides going up and over the overpass bridge to Meadow Lake. There will be two water stations along the course that will be ready for each of your loops.
We advise that you plan to arrive by 6AM in order to obtain your race packet, place baggage at our bag drop, use the bathroom facilities and listen to instructions. Race Day packets can ONLY be obtained on Race Day.
The Tune-Up will start at 7:15AM.
Note*- In order to be recognized on the results page, runners must complete the full 4 loops of the course. Anyone runner that does not, will not be recognized as an official finisher of the event.
Volunteers Welcome!* This is a lengthy event and we are all in this together! All hands are on deck as our goal is to present runners with a lively Volunteer team at Flushing Meadows! There will be two volunteer shifts, a Morning Shift that will feature placing Race Signage on the course, directing runners to bathrooms/parking lots, etc, and marshaling the course once the races commence. There will be a Closing Shift that will have volunteers report to key areas of the course, ensuring the park is clean like nothing ever happened, and as it will be later in the morning, keeping the public aware that a race is taking place. Please sign up officially for a shift at https://qdrunners.org/volunteer/
