Used by sailors a nautical mile is one minute of arc measured along any meridian, used by runners it is 1.15 road miles.

The Northport Nautical Mile is a fun and fast downhill 1.15 miles that that celebrates and promotes Northport’s nautical nature, village charm, and community spirit. - There will be an unofficial clock at the 1 mile mark.

Race Starts at Laurel Ave School (same place as the Great Cow Harbor 10k), and runs north on Laurel to Main Street, then turn left and run downhill, through the village, ending at the harbor front park where participants will have an awards ceremony at the town gazebo and enjoy a farmers market and the annual Blessing of the Fleet event in the harbor.

Post Race Festivities:The race runs right through scenic Northport Village and ends at the waterfront. Awards will be held at the gazebo in the park with plenty to eat and drink, then followed by the annual Blessing of the Fleet right at the town dock - an event not to be missed!

Parking is available in lots at the start area (Laurel Ave School), on Woodside Ave (between start and finish, off Main St just up the hill on the left – behind the Northport Historical Society and American Legion), the finish area (South side corner of Woodbine and main), and near finish area (End of Scudder Ave, near Woodbine).

AWARDS

Nautical themed trophies for 3 top male and female overall and masters (40+)

Age-group awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female in the following categories: 15 & under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85 & Over. There will be no duplication of awards.

$250 for the male/female that sets a new course record

In honor of Jim Mahoney this year proceeds will support the Northport American Legion and Northport Volunteer Fire Department.
